Research Participation Portal – Terms and Conditions
The Institute’s Role in Promoting Research Studies
Researchers, clinicians, universities, hospitals, and healthcare organizations seeking assistance from the Global Institute for TMD and Orofacial Health in promoting research studies requiring participant recruitment must submit a request through the Institute’s Research Participation Portal.
Each request undergoes an independent administrative review to ensure it aligns with the Institute’s mission, ethical standards, scientific quality, and eligibility requirements. Applicants will be notified of the review outcome within the timeframe specified in the submission confirmation.
Once approved, the Institute may promote the study through the Research Participation Portal, its official website, newsletters, social media platforms, professional networks, educational programs, and other communication channels.
The Institute’s role is limited to increasing awareness of eligible research opportunities. The Institute does not participate in participant screening, recruitment, enrollment, data collection, or study management. All enquiries regarding participation will be directed to the study’s designated research coordinator or principal investigator.
The Institute reserves the right to decline or remove any study that does not meet its scientific, ethical, or organizational standards.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for publication on the Research Participation Portal, studies must:
- Focus on temporomandibular disorders (TMD), orofacial pain, myofascial pain, sleep-related breathing disorders (including obstructive sleep apnea), craniofacial health, oral medicine, pain science, rehabilitation, or related healthcare disciplines.
- Be conducted by recognized universities, hospitals, research institutes, healthcare organizations, or non-profit organizations.
- Have received approval from an appropriately constituted Research Ethics Board (REB), Institutional Review Board (IRB), or equivalent ethics committee.
- Be supported through funding awarded by a recognized governmental agency, research council, university, charitable foundation, or other independent peer-reviewed funding body, where applicable.
- Demonstrate scientific merit and comply with applicable national and international ethical standards.
Documentation confirming ethical approval and, where applicable, evidence of research funding may be requested before a study is accepted for publication.
Ineligible Studies
The Institute does not promote studies that:
- Primarily serve commercial marketing or product promotion purposes.
- Are sponsored solely by pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies, medical device manufacturers, consulting firms, marketing research organizations, or other for-profit enterprises without independent academic or healthcare collaboration.
- Lack appropriate ethical approval.
- Fail to demonstrate scientific validity or alignment with the Institute’s mission.
- May place participants at unreasonable risk or fail to comply with applicable research regulations.
Commercially sponsored studies may be considered only when conducted in collaboration with an eligible academic institution or healthcare organization and when appropriate independent scientific and ethical oversight has been demonstrated.
